Angie Meets Eagle

Hello, everyone!

This post is full of pictures that I have stolen from the Saca to my 'Gawea, Sarah Cahalan. Thank you, Sarah, for capturing this truly terrifying moment.

So, friends, I was sitting innocently on my bench, enjoying volunteering students against their will to be a landing pad for eagles when my friend, Pleasant German Man, came for a little sitsy next to me.

I'm no idiot, kids, I've heard the old saying "Where goes the Pleasant German, so there goes terror." I knew what was coming my way.

AN EAGLE.

Oh, look, a nice big birdy in the distance.

Why don't you come hang out with us?  It's just me and my friend, Pleasant German Man.
Phew. He's coming in for the landing.  I have space.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?! I'M GOING TO BE CARRIED AWAY!
All is well.  The eagle has landed.
Oh no, go ahead, nibble away at my hand.
What a world we live in, people.  Birds chewing your fingers off.  Pleasant German Man trying to "keep you safe."  Just another day in the Irish life.

With love from Dublin,
Angie

I Love this Picture

My Favorite Breakfast Joint

Hey, all!

Today’s theme is food.  Scratch that.  Every day’s theme in my life is food.  I get a little bit too excited when I find a great restaurant that has delicious food at great prices.  I get way too excited if there are also really cool people that hang out in the restaurant.  And, friends, I have hit the jackpot.

Bring on the bacon!
My friend Jonathan and I were in the mood for brunch on a Saturday at 1pm.  Shockingly, most restaurants had moved on in their day, unwilling to be present to our every dietary desire.  It’s fine.  We’re over it.

And then, through the power of Yelp, we discovered Gerry’s, the hole in the wall, back alley, beautiful breakfast joint that screams “THE LOCALS LOVE ME!”  We sat and ate our Irish breakfasts, surrounded by inviting chatter of “How’s the kids?” and “How’s your week been?”

Perfection, my friends, perfection.  My favorite part? There’s cereal on the menu.  Not only do they make great food, they’re thoughtful as well.

It only got better when a couple Irish family members responded to my discovery with a “Gerry’s? I love Gerry’s!” sentiment.  See?!  The locals do love it!

Can’t wait to take you all.

Love,
Angie

Back to Basics

Hello, everyone!

Fun fact: October is the month of forgiving your friends and family who are embarrassingly delayed in their blog-writing process! What luck!

The past month has been full of amazing moments: I rode a pig, found my favorite breakfast joint, discovered the best ice cream in Dublin, settled into a good work routine, met some incredible people, danced a little (lot), frolicked through the stupidly-gorgeous landscapes of Ireland (you’re just making the rest of us feel bad), hung out with the fam, and started to call this city home for the year.

So, there it is, kids.  You better watch your faces because there’s a blast of happy posts coming your way!

Much love,
Angie
